Just testing

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

That's a nice start I have a few questions

Is the empire based on a certain style of play evil/good?
Is there any stories I've missed regarding the empire?
How did this empire become as it is top of the alta meta etcetera?
How did the empire start?
Where did the concept of "Kzinti" come from?
Subway or quiznos?

Anything else to help me understand the empire and grow with it would be wonderful!

1. Evil is always better! (and more fun) The consensus seems to be that bonuses for evil are much greater than for neutral or good, and I have found that to be so in the games that I have played. Even the Mind Control Center alone, which gives a 100% economy bonus and not what it says in the text, is quite awesome. The psionic beam far outclasses any weapon except the top tiers, and can give you an earlier jump on conquest, and the other evil wonders are all nice. I've made a number of custom civilizations, including the Kzinti and others from various sci-fi I'm familiar with.

2. Do a search for "kzinti" in the forums and you can see all the other posts I have made about them.

3. Networking, and a good number of people who play the game a lot.

4. I started the Empire with just myself and not really thinking about opening it to other players, just because I wanted to see how high I could get on my own. I made it to maybe about 17th place, and figured unless I acquired some minions for my evil goal of galactic conquest, the Kzinti wouldn't be advancing much.

5. They were certainly not created by me. The Kzinti are a creation of the sci-fi writer Larry Niven. There are many books and stories about the Kzinti by Niven and lots of other sci-fi writers.

6. Neither....like any good predator I like my meat unsullied by other food, and VERY fresh...

7. Maximize your score in the games you post to the Metaverse, set your "default" character so your cool medals show up in your posts, get more people to join our empire. Be a predator when you play, in every way possible; Play many games, and have fun!

What happens if you run into a race of dog people? Do you climb the nearest tree?

Hehe! Depends if they are bigger than a Kzin...if not, they get eaten. Nobody has made an empire of dog-beings to test this out.

Have a character that could join the Kzinti, PlayJeff?

Those grass-eating kshat cowards will regret what they tried to do to the Kzinti! We will lay waste to their worlds and make them our food animals. We will keep them in pens like the herd-animals they are, and we devour them until none are left. They will become nothing more than the lowly vatach to us...

Hmm, seems the "reasonable Kzin" breeding program missed one.

That makes me wonder, how would the first Man-Kzin war have ended if the Kzinti attacked while Brennan was still alive? Not well for you, I imagine

I think my MVL character will be going to the MVL Empire.

For a Kzin it is reasonable to lay your enemy's planets to waste and devour everyone. Jack Brennan being alive during that time would have been...bad.

My concept is that the Kzin arrived in the GalCiv universe through a rift in space-time sometime during the Man-Kzin Wars. I've been thinking about writing a story about how it might have happened.

I've joined and my race is a species of wolf-like bi-pedial creatures. We get along just fine.

It's great to have some other predators in the Empire. A force with both Kzinti and Lutarines is fearsome indeed! The galaxy better beware...

*evil laugh*

I'm working on another "gigantic" galaxy for probably about another 20K points.

Excellent Rajigah. The new slaves from these subjugated systems are needed back on Kzinhome. If they only had more meat on their bones, they would last a little bit longer...

And a salute to our newest member, Noctilucus! Welcome to the Kzinti, may your battles always be victorious!
