Just testing

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Hey KP or anyone else; I have a question:

I'd like to fire up some GCII in my free time here, but a new computer and two new OS's later, I don't have GCII installed anywhere anymore. Now, this used to be an easy fix cuz I would just fire up Impulse and download it.  But isn't Impulse gone now? Anyone know how I can go about downloading the game again?

Thanks!

update: figured it out; just went to Stardock.com and logged in LOL; they have a tab for "My Downloads" and it was listed right there.

Hey Silver!  It's still easy to re-download old games you already bought, so I'm glad Stardock made sure of that.

I recently downloaded Fallen Enchantress, but I havent had much time to look at it.  The original Elemental was so bad that I'm having trouble approaching FE with anything but hardened skepticism.

I've played a handful of games recently, not for score, but just for fun.  Huge or Gigantic abundant maps with everything but influence or conquest victory turned off, and foregoing any of the exploitative tactics that have been used for scoring in the past.  I played until it was obvious I was going to win, then stopped.  The cleanup part at the end of the game becomes too tedious to play til the end.

Good fun!

I guess I should do the same but then focusing on military victories that I haven't sufficiently pursued in the past. It's often fun to revisit a game after a few years... and notice that you still know the workings

so true, I remember back in the days when I started GalCiv2 playing straight just to win against the AI in different setups was the most enjoyable period here - esp. some of the campaigns and also those campaigns you can upload (some are pretty hard to do actually)

however it's really sad that the game has so many "holes" which you can exploit and which become obviously clear if one just plays alot - patterns will emerge.

that said, I'd like to reinstall the game for some midsized maps but in the meanwhile I've become an ardent MMO player (currently deep in TERA) and these games consume alot of time I can tell, lots of geargrinding to do )) but it' a hell of fun, too

Prost!

btw what's up with the char- or guildpics in the MV, don't show up anymore...?

edit:

currently installing the game was watching some Youtube and forgot how enchanting some of these soundtracks were (spacethemes) !!

Y'know, I still hope for a GCIII.  I may end up being gray-haired with a walker by then, but even so.  Just doing my roughly 6 month visit.

It's here.

It's good to see all of you again.  In particular, it's wonderful to have you back, Maiden.

Ohh, the mighty patriach of the Kziniti empire, i hereby humbly request to be a part of the Kziniti feline family, i wish to dominate the galaxies and eating the good and the neutral alike. do show me how to genetically mutate myself into a part of your own. na, i am just joking, i don't even know why i am even here, i do like Kziniti's moto, it reflects my own. too bad a man can never become an evil power hungry inconceivable horror that rules the universe nowadays. maybe i will reincarnate into a ruling unspeakable evil that may one day take over the current galaxy.
