Just testing

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

I'm so unbelievably ticked. I just spent the last two months on a game -- gigantic, obscene, military victory. One of my hardest fought victories to date. One of my biggest point totals to date. I finish the game to discover that I made the totally unforgivable dumba$$ mistake of not making it a metaverse game at the outset. No matter how much I screamed at the computer (imagine Kirk screaming "Khan!"), it didn't change the cold, hard reality that I'd played a non-metaverse game.

Is there any way to tell that you're playing a metaverse game (or not playing one) once you've started the game?

Oh well, back to the drawing board...

Oh man...that sucks Cumberberg. I've done that a couple times, but neither was a huge/long game luckily. I've also made the mistake of doing an update while in the process of a game, only to find out I couldnt load it afterwards.

I do know that one way is to simply retire, and if it's a Metaverse game, it will ask you if you want to post it. I dont think there's any way in-game, but maybe someone else knows of a way.

What was the point total on the game by the way?

Total was 105,350... Grr...

After you load the game up you can check the debug and if it's a meta game it will have this line

Debug Message: UIBeginGameHelper: New Metaverse Game Started

It shows that on reloads as well, pluss all your saves points in the debug will say

Debug Message: Saving: game mode is metaverse.

Thanks DethAdder.

Also when you load the game you get the following line near the bottom of the debug.err file.

Debug Message: Loading: game mode is metaverse.

Oh Well. I had a 872K game that wouldn't submit. Everyone has a cross to bear. Builds character.

Ouch...that was probably one of your biggest games, right Mumble?

Sorry to hear that, Mumble. ( I’m hoping that doesn’t happen to me. I’m playing a gigantic map and am just getting the upper hand in it. I was struggling in last place and decided it was time to go to war. Nobody wanted to declare on me. I even parked a bunch of transports next to the Iconian and Altarian planets and tried demanding techs and cash.

I finally just attacked the Iconians and after a couple of months game time, I own about a quarter of their once largest empire. Those defensive ships in DA are great, aren’t they? I have them plodding along by themselves and taking whole fleets out. DL didn’t have that as an option. I’m upgrading them on the fly as I gain techs from the war. The kill ratio is probably better than 10 to one so far and I’m talking Battleships and Cruisers.

Alas, RL has taken over and I’m back on 13 hour days at work. That won’t leave much game time. At least it’s only scheduled through next weekend, so I won’t lose several weekends in a row.

We’re closing in dangerously close to that #1 spot.

Congratulations everyone...we are now the #1 empire on the Metaverse!!

Last night, with some new victories and a couple new people joining, we roared past the Diplomats to take the #1 spot. Thanks to all of you who have worked long and dilligently to make this possible! Now lets keep it up and extend our lead, so that those grass-eating Diplomats can't easily jump ahead again. They are a great empire, but we will maintain and lengthen our lead! We will not rest on our accomplishments, for there are always more enemies to devour...

Again, congratulations to everyone!

Hey fellow cat people! I made a post in another forum just a few minutes ago. I noticed I have a shiny new gold medal to go along with my post. It's cool to be in first place. I have a huge game going on right now that is about mid game. I hope to help make our first place lead even more solid!
on Feb 19, 2008
Let me the first non-Kzinti to congratulate you on reaching first place. Getting to the top in less then 7 months is no small feat.

Just remember, I expect the same when we pass you!
on Feb 19, 2008
Hey, congrats to place 1.

Still dont know where to put my participation in the empire - i got an invitation right after my first metaverse game at all and yet got an invitation. Is it because you just invite almost everyone or because my game looked good? I wont let you down, my second game is almost done.

on Feb 19, 2008
Thanks FB! I will of course congratulate the ToE should you start climbing in the standings.

Hi di55ec7ion, your score for a first game defnitely caught my attention. Few people start out submitting a game over 40k...I certainly didnt. We're glad to have you in the empire, and good to hear that you've got another game coming in soon.

Thanks, i am glad to hear that. My next game will be a gigantic map too,a bit less planets, difficulty a bit harder, painful or crippling, i dont remember which exactly. I like to try different play styles, so i decided diplomatic development with the Terrans, but actually the game looks very good i kept the other civs at war with each other and already pushed my technology far beyond theirs. I think its just a question of time until i can post a new score (hopefully as good as the forst one).
