Just testing

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Thanks Lorent. At the moment I am re-reading some of the Man-Kzin wars, because its been a long time since I first read them. I dont believe I've read any John Ringo, but I'll have my gf check the library for him next time she's there.

Ah, the Kzinti – one of Niven’s finest creations (among many).

I remember the Kzinti mainly for their race in Star Fleet Battles. My drone chuckers were feared throughout the galaxy, particularly with speed 32 drones. My main opponent was a wily Klingon who taunted me with the name Eater of Grass – a vile insult. But I held my tongue until my drones shredded his rear shield and I then pounced with joy with a furious point plank knife fight. Kzinti ships were particularly good at knife fighting. If I failed I went to the Hall of Heros for having died bravely in battle, not like some simpering Federation captain who whines about peace while he charges his overloaded photons. All the Feds were good for is as Big Slow Targets.

My motto during all my SFB campaigns as the Kzinti was: If you don’t attack and overrun, you can’t devour anyone.

It seems oh, so apt.

Congrats to the Kitties.

You now officially have more character members than any other empire.

One of yours?

We can detect the face-dancers Hidar, because they do not smell right. They can't fool the keen Kzinti sense of smell. Only cowardly being would hide behind another's face. We dont like to eat them though, because they dont taste right either... We throw their bodies to the scavenger beasts.

Well said Hydro, perhaps you have were born with the liver of a t'kzintar Hero? If you are brave enough and want to earn your name, you are welcome to join us.

I never played Star Fleet Battles, but I did play Klingon Academy, which I liked a lot. No Kzinti in that one though. Did you play KA also?

Congrats to the Kitties.

We have large litters and breed quickly....we keep the kzinretts continuously busy.

Thanks for the congrats Purge, and also for the funny pic.

No I haven’t played KA. I assume that is a computer game?

SFB was originally a (rather complicated) strategic board game that was launched in 1979 or so. I don’t know how the publishers of SFB got to use Niven’s Kzin. Maybe they snagged the rights before Niven really knew what he had. Anyway, all the later iterations (including the computer version, Star Fleet Command) of SFB were Kzin-less since Niven wised up. The game is almost dead now. Pity.

I’ll wait on the sidelines and observe the Mighty Kzin Empire since I’m a mere kit. It will take quite a bit of screaming and leaping before my talons are sharp enough to venture out of the warren and into the world of prey. The food animals do look tasty though ***drool***

Kzinti Strategy has come quite a long-way from the traditional scream-and-leap days. The wars with the monkey-men taught the Kzinti many things. When you are ready to test yourself in battle, we will see if you can earn your name, and perhaps become a mighty Conquest Hero. Even a kit's claws are sharp...

Yes, Klingon Academy is a computer game, now maybe 6-7 years old. I think it is very much like Starfleet command, but from Klingon-based. I was thinking of Starfleet Command before, but I am also vaguely familiar with the SFB table-top game. I've never played it, but have heard many things about it from my gaming friends. Yesterday I just got back from a 4-day Sci-Fi.Fantasy convention in Boston, which I go to mainly to play games. I spent about 18 hours/day gaming every day!

Welcome to our newest members, DragonKnight, Lord Hammerschmidt, & jaygittings! As noted before by the illustrious Purge, we now have more members than any other empire!

A couple score-increasing hints.... Here is an example of a "military starbase array" from my latest game.

Photobucket

This is a way to really pump up your military rating, and therefore your score. The planet just to the north of the array is where I have my Spin Control Center, and Omega Defense system built, and the planet's orbit is filled with massive-hulled, maxed-out weapons ships. The starbases have the ship-assist modules for the correct weapon type for my ships. Just to the north of that planet is every warship that I built, so that they are also in the radius of all the military starbases.

Also, near the end of the game, I build a maxed-out influence starbase next to one of my lowest PQ planets, then gift both the planet and the base to the last enemy civ right before I declare war and take all their planets but that one. The base will prevent the planet from culture-flipping. Here is a pic of the last enemy planet with the influence base next to it.

Photobucket

This allows the game to be extended in order to get a higher score. Having surrenders turned off is very important for this to work. These are two tactics I use to get a better score.

Even demons need the occassional vacation Motti. You need to kick back, relax, maybe swallow some extra-tasty souls for a while. I think you've earned some R&R for your devoted pursuit of evil.

well...the so called conflict of cats and dogs is really only on the domestic level, and even then its not as prevalent as some may think. Anyone that has multiple/different kinds of pets will tell you the same thing. Also, in the greater natural world, cats tend to be one of the supreme hunters/carnivores in their respective ecological niches such as lions in the savanna, tigers in the jungle, and cougars in mountainous regions. Wolves are the only major canine that is dominant in its respective niche.
